Question and Answers

Q:

whirlpool washer wont unlock or start cycle WFW8400TB00

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect. I will be more than happy to assist you with your Whirlpool washer.

From the information you have provided above, The F28 error code indicates a communication problem between the central control and the motor control. This simply means the control boards are not talking to each other. This can be a difficult and frustrating problem to diagnose even for a technician. The problem can be a bad central control or motor control or loose connections between the two. In this situation here it might be a good idea to set up service at 1-800-4MY-HOME.

I hope you found this information useful. Again thank you for choosing Sears, we appreciate your business, have a great day.

Hello Paul,

I'm sorry to hear that your washer is vibrating during spin and I would like to assist you. Before you remove the panels to check the suspension it may be a good idea to see if the basket is wobbling on the bearing mount. Open the door of the washer and then pick up on the basket, watching and feeling to see if there is any movement of the basket that is independent from the tub. Rotate the basket 90 degrees and try it again. Do this two more times to have checked 360 degrees. If the basket is moving independent of the tub, you have a bearing issue and that will need to be addressed accordingly. If it checks out OK, there are several screws along the bottom of the kick panel and removing them will allow you to pull the panel down slightly, freeing it for removal. I have attached a diagram that will assist you with this, at the end of this reply.

Please let me know what you find and I'll be happy to assist you further.
