Question and Answers

Q:

Dryer doesn't turn and doesn't heat. wed9500tw3

A:

Thank you for your inquiry on your Whirlpool Dryer, Model: WED9500TW3. From reviewing the details on your model, Based on your symptom and details it sounds like you could have a restricted venting system or possibly a weak high limit thermostat. For testing purposes only; disconnect the vent hose from the back of the dryer and then see how long the heating element will stay on. It should stay on until the drum exhaust temperature reaches approximately 150 degrees when set on high heat. The temperature should average around 150 degrees as the heating element cycles off and on. You will need to check and monitor the exhaust temperature with a thermometer. The high limit thermostat is mounted on the heater.

Safety Warning: Before beginning the repair, disconnect the direct power supply to the dryer to prevent the risk of injury or any electrical shock.

If you don’t feel comfortable or confident in this repair, then you can have it repaired at home by a sears technician. I have the included a link to the website: Sears Home Services or call 1-800-469-4663.

I hope this answered your question. Thank you for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com, and have yourself a wonderful day.

It wouldn't spin or heat after it stopped working. I vacuumed out the entire machine, inside and out. I replaced the high limit thermostat/high limit cutoff fuse. I tested the thermitor, heating coil, moisture sensor and the door switch for continiuty... all good. I noticed the lights on the control panel flicker for a split second when I put the shoes in the dryer. Do you think I need a new control panel Another thing, the thermitor had continuity, but it didn't go to zero... it only went about half way on the tester... but it had some continuity. But, from I have read, it goes up and down due to temp. It was at room temp when tested. Please help, I don't want to buy a new dryer if I can fix it. Thanks

Thank you for using ManageMyLife.com. I am sorry to hear of the issue you are experiencing with the dryer, I know how frustrating that is, especially when the clothes are piling up.

Based upon the service manual for this model, the F1 error code is a Primary Control Failure. The remedy for this failure is to replace the Electronic Control Boards or the entire Control Panel Assy with boards.

For your convenience, I have attached the Display Fault/Error Codes sheet from the service manual below for your viewing. I have also included a blue link below you may click on to be directed to the PartsDirect page where you can view and purchase the part to make the repair.

Hello Gene,

I would like to assist you with your hinge part search. The hinge is sold only as an assembly, I am familiar with the mounting screw for the stabilizer arm that you are referring to, I have a washer at home with this hinge. ;) There is not any information on it that I could find but I think that a good idea may be to remove the hinge completely and take it to a local hardware store to find a suitable replacement. If memory serves me correctly, this has more of a coarse thread that actually threads itself into the hinge casting, kind of like a wood type of screw. Whatever the case, just don't force it and damage the screw hole.

Please let me know if you would like any further assistance.
