Question and Answers

Dryer Lint WED5800SG0 Whirlpool Residential dryer

Thank you for your inquiry on your Whirlpool Dryer, Model: WED5800SG0. From reviewing the details on your model, first I suggest turning off the water supply to the refrigerator again and removing the water filter and then reinsert it. Turn the water back on and check if it leaks now. If the water still leaks, the filter housing will need to be checked and may need to be replaced. The complete control housing will need to be lowered, to access the filter housing. This can be complicated and I recommend having a technician make this check and repair. As for the ice maker leaking It will need to be determined if the icemaker is leaking, overfilling or if the fill tube is leaking. Check the cube size to see if they look normal. If the cubes have a bridge across the top and stick together, it's a good indication of overfilling. Also check for ice hanging down from under the mold. This would indicate a crack in the mold and the icemaker would need to be replaced. If both of these checks are ok, the problem could be with the fill tube splashing. There is a tube extension that will slide over the existing open fill tube. I'm sending a picture with instructions for installing this tube.

Safety Warning: Before beginning the repair, disconnect the direct power supply to the dryer to prevent the risk of injury or any electrical shock.
