Thank you for your question.  I am sorry you are having a problem with your Whirlpool WED5500sq0 dryer

If the dryer will run at all then the thermal fuse is okay.

Note running in any cycle except Wrinkle Free sounds like a Timer problem.

The dryer only running 15-20 seconds sounds like a motor problem.

Make sure the door is staying shut and the door switch is not popping open.

Low voltage might even cause this problem.  This would be rare but a meter would be needed to check voltage while the dryer is running.

You can have the problem checked and repaired by a Sears technician in your home.  Here is the link: Sears Home Services Dryer Repair.

You can reply below with any additional details for further assistance.

Electrical components on a dryer can be tricky. It sounds like the start/stop switch should be replaced. I would also recommend you having a techncian go out and check all possible electrical swtiches that it may be. You can contact a technician at 1800-469-4663 to schedule an appoitment.

Hope you get your dryer up an running again soon!

It's to bad that you give me a generic schedule an appointment line. I know that how to check these switches. I also know how much a repair technician costs. Maybe I will just buy from someone else thanks for the suggestion on replacing the start/stop switch anyways.

Hi,

Thank you for asking this question and allow me to answer it this way.

Yes you should be able to replace the door catch; the part comes as a kit with the door strike. So you will have both of the parts. You will have to separate the door front and back to replace the catch. Here is the parts number, Maytag Dryer Door Catch .

I hope this answer is useful and that it helps you correct the problem with your appliance.
Thank you for using ManageMyLife.
