Question and Answers

Q:

Why won’t my GE washing machine drain?

A:

You did not tell me whether or not the drain pump runs at all. If it does not run, I can give you some checks to determine the cause of the issue. If you are not already sure you can perform these checks safely and competently, refer this work to a qualified professional. Working with live electrical current can be very hazardous and possibly deadly. Testing voltage output requires working with electrical current. Do not attempt this measurement without the proper tools and safeguards.

Gain access to the CCU (Central Control Unit), the teardown instructions are included below. Always unplug or de-energize electrical equipment before removing covers or attempting service. Be careful and wear appropriate hand protection when working around sharp metal parts. Find the connectors P8-1 or B-16 (black wire) and P8-5 or W-16 (white wire). With the unit in drain check the VAC (Voltage Alternating Current) across these terminals. It should be 120.0 VAC, if not the CCU is bad. If you have 120 check again, this time at the pump. If you have 120 the pump is bad, if you do not have 120 check the wiring and connections.

If you require further assistance please resubmit question with details of the checks you have made. I will be looking forward to helping you again in the near future.
