Question and Answers

Q:

Washer does not ajitate or spin WCSR2080B2WW Ge Washer

A:

If the washer model WCSR2080B2WW will not spin or agitate and the motor is running I suspect the problem is with the motor coupler.

A few more details would be needed to give you a definitive answer.

If the washer will not agitate or spin but it will drain the water out the most likely problem is a broken motor coupler.

You can reply with any additional details for further assistance with this problem.

Q:

GE Top Loading Washer Model WCSR2080B2WW makes loud squeaking noise when operating

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

I was not able to get the audio to work/open. You did not state if it makes the noise during agitation or during the pump out or when spinning.  If it's making the high pitched squeaking noise during spin, then it could have worn tub bearing. To access the tub bearing, the tub will have to be taken out, the agitator taken off and the gear case.

If it makes the noise during agitation, then it could have something to do with the tub support rods or one of the suspension straps.

I recommend hinging the top open and taking a look at the 4 suspension straps connected to each upper corner of the tub and frame and check the tub support rods. Move the tub around while the top is opened to see if makes the noises. I added a couple of images below to reference.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Hi Joey, Thank you for your response! It makes the squeaking noise during agitation. The suspension straps still are in place and the tub doesnt make any noise when manually moved around. The audio file is an mp3 and should play in itunes. Please let me know what you think and THANK YOU for responding. :)

Erin: At this time we are not able to get the audio to play. I have someone working on trying to get it to play. Since it makes the noise in agitation only, I would have to suspect the noise is caused by a worn or washed out sleeve bearings located between the agitate shaft and the transmission tube. The transmission will likely have to be replaced to resolve the noise. The transmission is not serviceable. If your GE washer is less than 5 years old from the date of purchase, the transmission would be covered under the manufactures warranty. After the first year however, you will be responsible for the labor to have it replaced. A service technician would have to perform the labor in under to get the transmission covered under the warranty. I suggest calling a setting up a service appointment to have the transmission replaced.

Joey, Thanks for getting back to me. Aside from the noise, the machine works fine. Would you recommend servicing a machine that may be about 9 years old or just replacing at this point.

A:

Erin: You would better off in the long run to just replace the washer rather than spending the money on having the transmission replaced.
