Thanks for the info. It's a GE Washer #WBXR1060T2WW. It's plastic and a piece of junk. I don't want to buy any parts for it, just fix what's there. It's not easy to work on this model. It has a base plate which covers the motor and transmission. I want to fix the broken gearbox, not buy a replacement.

Hi Robert,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life.

The gearcase in this washer is a non serviceable part. They are meant to be replaced rather than worked on. The only way to get parts for this gearcase is to harvest them from another gearcase; you cannot purchase parts for it. we do not have experience working on this gearcase and the service manual does not have a breakdown on it.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website; Sears Home Services .

Here is a link that you may use to view the parts list diagram or purchase any parts needed for your appliance; Sears Parts Direct .

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance please include more details in a reply to this post.

Sears Home Services has already been here and said not to spend any money on it, it's 20 years old and not worth it. I got a discount on a new Kenmore and was going to thinker with the gearbox to see what's gone bad. Must have clutch plates or a hydraulic actuator that engages the drive. I'll take it apart and find out.
