Question and Answers

Q:

washer power but not working WBVH5200J0WW Ge Washer

A:

Thank you for your question. It is a good idea to check other possible problems before replacing a control.  From the symptoms, I would check the door lock assembly. Visually check the door lock mechanism. Verify there is no debris or detergent build up in the mechanism that may be altering its function. Make sure the door strike extends. If you have a meter and are comfortable making continuity tests, check the wiring from the door lock to the control. Sometimes, unplugging the washer for 30 seconds, will reset the control board. If the condition continues, I would recommend having a technician visit to diagnose and make repairs.  You can schedule a technician at Sears Home Services. If further help is needed, please reply.  Thank you for using Manage My Life.

thank you for your reply. i have since found a few other things that may be helpful in your assesment. the machine will not reset when unplugged for any amount of time. i am unable to access the service mode to test the functions for errors or better direction. i have read the water level contrtol switch not operating properly will cause the machine to not allow the control board to enter the service mode. i have also read in the manual that the do not recommend disconnecting any components for testins as the connections may become damaged. is it safe to assume that if the the water is drained and the machine will not reset or enter service mode that it is the water level switch causing the problem?

Hi Kevin. I recommend having a technician visit to diagnose and make necessary repairs at this time. This issue will require checking wiring along the control paths to identify if this is a component failure or a wiring problem. The Sears Home Services link above will help with scheduling.
