Question and Answers

Q:

Why is my GE washer not agitating?

A:

Something like this could be caused by the motor, timer, wiring harness, agitator or transmission. I suspect that the humming noise is coming from the motor. We will need to check the voltage at the motor with a volt meter to give us a starting point. If you have the correct voltage at the motor & the motor is still just humming, take the belt off & see if the motor starts up normally in the wash cycle. Turn the transmission pulley in both directions with the belt off. If the pulley binds up, the transmission will need to be replaced. Once we make these initial checks we should have a direction to head into. Please get back us after making these checks if further assistance is needed.
