Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

I understand it makes noise during spin and it's likely due to a worn out tub bearing and/or clutch and based on the age it won't likely be cost effective to repair the washer.

I'm not clear in understanding what mean when you say it won't stop spinning. Do you mean the timer stalls and doesn't advance to off or when it advances to off the basket continues to coast to a stop instead of stopping within a few seconds? If the timer advances to off and it shuts the washer off but the basket continues to coast for a while before it stops could indicate a failed braking system within the gear case or possibly a stripped or broken hub. If the timer is not advancing to off then it will most likely need a timer. Your symptoms will need to be diagnosed by a service technician but I recommend replacing the washer rather than having it repaired.
