Your details seem to indicate that the timer motor gets to a point where it will not advance to the stop position. If the dishwasher is running in this manner and will never stop then you will probably need to replace the timer (part PD140008). You can order that part from this page: Timer for Viking Dishwasher Model VUD141 . Be sure that you shut off the house circuit breaker for the dishwasher to disconnect electrical power before accessing and replacing internal components if you complete this repair yourself.

The image below shows how to open up that door panel to access the timer.

If the dishwasher stalls and the pump motor is not running continuously then you may try using different temperature settings. You could have a problem with the temperature switch or the thermostat that could possibly cause the dishwasher to stall in the cycle. A bad heating element would prevent the dishwasher from reaching the target temperature.

I hope that this information helps. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details and we will assist you further.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services .

Q:

Troubleshoot Viking Model VUD141 Dishwasher

A:

Dishwashers can be hard to diagnose and since most are built in they are hard to access the parts for checking as well. I located two links from another web site that have similar problems for a Viking. It might be a place to start while you wait for the expert. The third link is to access a local repair person in your area from a site called Service Live. Hope these links help.

Predicting the failed part that is preventing your dishwasher from starting is a challenge without technical diagnosis. I provided some technical information for this dishwasher in the images below. You could have a wiring failure, a bad rotary switch, a failed timer or a number of other problems that would prevent the dishwasher from starting. I recommend that you check the troubleshooting issues described at the top of the first image. If that does not help, I recommend that you shut off the circuit breaker for the dishwasher to completely disconnect electrical power. Remove the door panel as shown in the third image to access the rotary switch and the timer. Check the wiring connections on those components. You may find a loose or broken wire in this area that is causing your problem.

If you are not able to find the problem in this area, then you will probably need to have a service technician diagnose and repair the dishwasher. Further testing will probably require a technician to perform some live voltage checks. Here is a link for the Sears Service website: Sears Home Services .

If I had to guess which components were likely causing this problem, I would anticipate that you have a problem with the rotary switch (part PD140007) or the timer (part PD140008).

I hope that this information helps. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details and we will try to help you further.
