Q:

Starts, but will not run. Dies after a few seconds. 316292710 Craftsman 4-cycle cultivator/edger

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for using SearsPartsDirect.com.
The carburetor would be the most likely culprit with that symptom. Due to the fact that it fires for a few seconds tells us the plug has spark and it has air. That would only leave us with the fuel. Chances are that the jet is probably partially clogged or gunked with old fuel varnish. I would suspect a replacment carburetor would do the trick. When you replace the carb, if you haven't replaced the fuel filter recently, it would be recommended to do so. It's also recommended to use Fuel Stabilizer with the gas you store, that way you can get a year out of the stored gas vs. 30-60 days, which can cause carb issues.
For convenience, I have included links below for the carburetor, fuel filter, as well as Fuel Stabilizer.

Pages 29 and 30 in the owner's manual for your microwave state, "Replace bulb with candelabra-base 30-watt bulb (Part No. 6912W3Q001A)"for the cooktop light and "replace the bulb with a candelabra-base 30-watt bulb (Part No. 3B70067A)" for the oven light.

I provided a link to the owner's manual below. I hope this helps.

While I appreciate what the manual says, I have this question. The bulb specified is not available locally but everyone carries the similar bulb in 40 watt. It is available on the shelf and at a third or fourth of the price I can order it on line or sears partsdirect. Would there be a problem using a 40 watt vs. a 30 watt?

Thank you for your question. I can understand your concern about the water heater. Based on the information listed, yes, the problem could be with the inlet tube. This is not a common problem but if the tube has broke, it would be worth repairing. The biggest problem with replacing the inlet tube is not having enough space above the tank to install the new tube. Also check the water temperature to make sure the thermostat is working properly. If the thermostat is set to the hottest setting, the water should be approx. 150-160 degrees. Some other reasons that could this type of problem would be if, the inlet water supply was colder than normal. This will depend on the area. By this I mean, if in a cold weather climate and also the location of the tank and surrounding area. This problem can also occur if there is a large buildup of sediment in the tank, which reduces the amount of hot water in the tank. If the inlet tube is broken, the chances of the tank lasting a few more years would probably be favorable. I hope this will help you.
