A:

Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com. I do regret you are having issues with your fridge, and do understand your frustration. Glad to help out. Im looking at your model number 795.77563600. That model does show 2 different valves. The one you need is the dual valve. Part number 5220JB2008A.

5220JB2009A is a single valve which not the correct one.

I have included a link to our PartsDirect page where you can purchase the part you need to complete your repair. Just click the blue link below to be taken to the page.

If you have further questions please let me know.

Javier_G. After reviewing the info you provided & reviewing the link, I believe you are not correct in your assumption. There are two valves listed, but PN 5220JB2008A (dual valve) is listed in your PartsDirect list & parts diagrams with the door related components. Please refer to your door parts diagram, the part in question is shown as 619B. I have the original part in my hand & it is marked as PN 5220JB2009A, not part 2008A. Further if you look at your parts direct website under valves, pictures are shown for both parts. Looking at the pictures, it is true that part 619B has the same 4 lead electrical connection as the old one, but there are several major differences between it and the old one. 1) the dual valve has 3 water tube connections (1 grey & 2 white) vs. 1 on the single valve. The fridge only has 1 plastic tube leading to the inside from my original valve. If the dual valve was used, two of the water connections would leak if they were not plugged somehow. 2) the mounting bracket on the dual valve is set up for a vertical mount inside the compartment vs. an angular mount to the back of the fridge (ie. The valve would just dangle at the back of the fridge & not be secure) 3) the dual valve does not have a metal threaded connector to allow a compression fitting & copper tubing connection to the incoming water supply line as the single valve does. 4) looking at your Parts Direct component list, the valve listed as the replacement for PN5220JB2009A is Listed as #619A not #619B. If the correct part is 619B as you say, then your web site is wrong. Please provide some supporting info to back your claim for #619B & address the differences listed above. Much more info is needed. Thank you.

To Bill W.(Home Services) Thank You for the e-mail & valve pictures (old & new valves). As stated in the original post my fridge was manufactured in 10, 2006. The original valve is 5220JB2009A (see my pic 2, 3, 7), and the Sears Parts Direct web says that they are now using PN:5221JA2011J as a substitute (Sears #619A). I bought that part online& it has a different wiring harness connection configuration than the original part. The new part has a two lead electrical connection, and the old has a four lead connection (pic 3). The new/substitute part did not come with a new wiring harness. The Sears online Part Specialist told me to buy a new harness PN:6877JB3036K (Sears # 619D). This harness is the same as one of the original harnesses (pic 9) (Fridge mounting end of harness â?? blue color with a large letter R on it, valve end has 2 of the smaller connectors). This harness only activates water to the ice maker. I need the wiring harness that is pictured with valve PN:5221JA2011JA (that you provided or the one shown on the new valve on Sears Parts Direct #619A) , so that both the ice maker & door water dispenser will operate. Attached are some pictures in next post. I'm running out of room.

Cont'd from previous post. Attached are some pictures: 1 â?? back of fridge, lower right side. Cover is in place, valve in place, copper tube for water inlet connected, and white plastic water delivery tube runs full length of fridge (bottom to top). 2 â?? Back of fridge with access cover removed. Original valve with mounting screw to fridge removed (right side of valve mount clip). Copper tubing & wiring harness still connected. White plastic water delivery tube disconnected/broke at connection point. 3 â?? Close up of side view of valve, with 2 wiring harnesses connected (see 4 wires â?? 2 per harness). 4- Bottom of valve showing single water outlet. 5 â?? Single white plastic water tube with metal sleeve. This connects to valve outlet opening & runs from the valve at the bottom of the fridge up the whole back of the fridge to the top right and into the fridge. 6 - White water tube entry point at top of fridge (with cover plate removed). 7 â?? Original valve tag with part number & specs. 8 â?? Original wire harnesses at fridge connection point. Blue connector has R on the side face. Red connector has no markings. Blue connector to the left of red & blue pair is for condenser cooling fan. 9 â?? Original wiring harnesses. Note small connector size on Blue harness, and large connector size on Red harness. 10 â?? New valve mounted in place. 11- New valve mounted in place, with water tube connected. 12 - New valve mounted in place, with original wiring harness connected. I tried attaching pictures, but was unable to attach them. Please provide a way to attach them. Thanks.

Hi,

Thanks for contacting  ManageMyLife.  I understand how frustrating it is having trouble with your appliance.

The water valve 5221ja2011j will come with the wiring harness just like in the picture.  This harness will like in the picture plug into the valve and plug into the connector above the water valve.  If you did not get the harness with this valve, return it as incomplete and have another valve part number 5221ja2011j sent to you. This should solve the problem.

If you get the water valve with the extra 2 wire connection on it, simply just tie wrap the two wire harness off and do not use it.

Please feel free to let me know if you need further assistance. We are always here to help.

Thank you for using ManageMyLife.com.

I have this same problem. Part# 5220JB2009A leaks. Sears no longer supplies this, but instead says part # 5221JA2011J is a "Functional equivalent" with "guaranteed fit". The old part had 2 solenoid valves; the new one has only 1. The old part was wired to existing part 5220JB2008A, which, in turn, was wired into the refrigerator. Because of wiring harness differences, I cannot connect 5220JB2008A to 5221JA2011J. If I take the new part and connect it directly to the refrigerator, part 5220JB2008A is bypassed completely, and NOTHING works. It looks like I have to splice wires to get both parts connected electrically to the refigerator. Why are there no diagrammed instructions on how to install this new part that has a completely different wiring harness?

I believe I solved the problem. After running several cycles w/o detergent I still found suds after the rinse cycle. The only other thing I had not checked was the rinse agent. I poured a spot of the rinse agent in a bowl and sure enough, it foamed up when agitated with the hot water from the sink sprayer. I checked the setting on the dispenser and it was set at 6 vs. 1-2 as recommended in the manual. Set it back to 1, ran a few quick rinse cycles, done deal. I did note that the rinse agent is a non-ionic surficant so, it was obviously the cause for the suds. I do recall adjusting the setting many years ago due to spots on the dishes. Never had this problem until recently...which was about the time I purchased a different brand of rinse agent. Thanks for the links, it did give me a place to begin the search.

A:

Paul, I am glad the problem is solved. The factory setting for the rinse agent is 2. To insure all the soap is gone, pour 1 cup of vegetable oil on the bottom of the dishwasher. Next, run a quick wash. That will clear any soap hidden inside the pump. Vegetable oil breaks up soap and will not harm the dishwasher.
