The cover on the owner's manual indicates it's a "Sansui DVD-RW Recorder & VRDVD4005". I want to make a DVD copy of a VHS tape (from video camera). I've done this numerous times before successfully. I was just thinking, a local shop replaced the DVD driver and I don't remember doing any dubbing since then until now. Could it be associated with that?

I would take it back to where it was repaired at and have them take a look at it. Depending on whom you had it repaired by and how long it has been they might charge you for the additional work needed. The other option would be to replace it.

I know how great it can be to have a dvd burner to record your favorite shows. While you are waiting for your expert answer, I did manage to find a link in where you can enter your appliance model number and the owners manual will pop up to help you with your question. I hope my link is useful.

The problem might be the finalization process. You have to select finalize when the disc is finished. I am not seeing any auto finalize feature when the disc is completed. The finalize feature basically lets other DVD players be able to play the DVD. You should be able to put the DVD's back in and go to the finalization process. I do not have all the menu functions and cannot find were the option is listed in the menu. Try to finalize a disc and let me know if it works.

Thank you so much for the info! The owners manual doesn't address finalizing the dvd, but I did find it under the disc menu and was able to do it. That solved my problem! Thank you!!! :)
