Q:

What can cause my TV to have a ghost down the screen?

A:

I am not sure what your exact symptom is. If you are hooked up to analog cable (straight from the wall no box) it is possible that the cabling is leaking or combining signals to give a "ghost" image of itself on the side. This problem is a type of interference and only exists with analog signals. Go through your connections and try to eliminate the splitters first and see if you can get a clear picture by hooking up the TV as direct as possible to the source. Calling the cable company might be necessary. Also keep in mind that the TV menu cannot be affected by this and would not be ghosting as well. If you are hooked up with an antenna (broadcast is now digital) or a type of digital system (like satellite or digital cable) this would not be your problem.

Another possibility is that you are describing a defect in the TV itself. I cannot remember seeing a Vizio do this but it is possible that a defective board is recreating a ghost like effect. The one thing to note is that the menu would more than likely be affected as well. You would be able to see a ghost of the menu or volume bar where the video is being shifted to as well.

The other scenario that came to mind is that you are trying to describe a defect in the panel to me. I have seen a lot of LCD panels that have a shadowy, non uniform crescent moon or line that I describe as looking like a water mark. Some people have used the term "ghost" as well for this symptom. This is a problem in the panel and I believe that it has to do with the layers of screens used that are becoming loose.

My screen is all white with alittle color, and I do have sound. Now my HDMI ports in the back went out first, then about a week later my screen is doing the white thing. So I installed a new "main board" and that fixed my HDMI ports but im still getting the white screen. Do you have an idea what I should do next? Im enclosing photos.

It would seem that you have a T-con issue. Not all T-con boards are replaceable. I would need your model number to better assist you. Also, You can ask this as a new question.

The t-con board is at the top of the LCD panel. The long flat connector that goes from the main board to the LCD panel actually goes to the T-con board. The t-con board was not supplied by the manufacture are a replaceable part.

I also have a Vizio VOJ32OF1A, and for the last few months the screen has started to flicker dark, then bright, getting darker and darker over time. Is it the screen itself giving out, or a light I can replace?
