One igniter on one burner does not spark on my Viking gas stove. Model VGSU160-6B. Can you tell me how I can fix it?

I understand that your Viking stove has one burner that is not sparking at the igniter. While you wait for the expert answer, I found a similar question at an appliance forum web site. It may help. I also found a site for Viking parts. If you do decide you would be more comfortable with expert repair, another option is to visit Sears Home Services and use the scheduler. Hope this helps!

Self service of a Viking cook top may not be easy to complete. Here is some technical information that may help you determine the cause of this problem:

The failure of that igniter could be caused by a problem with the burner switch, the wiring, the spark module or the igniter itself. Make sure that a spill is not preventing the igniter from sparking. I provided the wiring diagram for a similar Viking gas cook top below that should also match your cook top. I also provided disassembly information. Using this information, you may be able to disconnect electrical power to the cook top and determine the cause of your failure. Shut off the gas supply before accessing internal components as well. Check the wiring connections. You can check the continuity through the switch with the cook top disconnected from electrical power. Using this information, you may be able to determine the cause of your failure. If you suspect a bad igniter, you can try connecting the wires from the spark module to the igniter on a burner that is working to verify that the spark module and switch are both working. If you need more help, submit additional details and we will try to assist you further. If you power up the cook top with internal components exposed, be sure that you avoid contact with live wires and contacts.

If you have a failed component, you may have a difficult time getting parts without having a service technician fix the cook top. I do not see parts available for this cook top through our Sears Parts system. You will likely need to call Viking at 1-888-845-4641 to obtain parts if you find a failed component.

If you are not completely confident that you can safely access and repair this cook top yourself, I recommend that you call Viking at the phone number provided above for service.
