Question and Answers

Q:

how come my agitator won't agitate, but the washer fills and spins? Model# VBSR100B3WW VBSR3100B3WW Hotpoint Washer

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when your washer will not agitate. I did look into the model number you have provided and I have found that your agitator has gears at the bottom of it that may be stripped causing your agitator not to agitate. The spin is controlled by the motor shaft and not the agitator. I recommend checking the bottom of the agitator to see if the gears are stripped. If they are then you will need to replace the complete agitator. Click here to view.

Q:

Why does my Hotpoint washer model #vbsr3100b3ww agitate but not spin?

A:

Why does my Hotpoint washer model #vbsr3100b3ww agitate but not spin?

If your washer will fill and agitate okay, then the motor is most likely fine. If the washer agitates and the timer advances to the spin but nothing happens then the most likely cause of this problem is a bad lid switch.

On your washer an open lid switch will allow the washer to fill and agitate but will not allow it to drain or spin. I recommend you check the lid switch first. Other possible causes could be the timer, clutch, drive block, basket drive & transmission.

I recommend calling a technician to diagnose and repair your washer.
