I can understand wanting to know why you have to put the handle down so far to get the unit to drive.

This model has a belt idler arm that is activated when you lower the handle.

Either the belt is badly worn or the idler arm with the roller is not working properly.

  • To get to the drive system you will need to flip the unit over and remove the 4 screws that secure the sole plate on the underside of the vacuum.

  • Once you have this cover removed you can gain access to the belts and the idler arm.

I will give you a picture of what this looks like.
