Thank you for your question on the replacement of the power cord for the Hoover vacuum cleaner. Is the cord to big for the hole or is there a cord retainer you will have to remove?

There should be a cord strain relief that you will have to remove in the back body of the vacuum cleaner. You will have to use a pair of pliers to pinch the cord retainer strain relief and work it out of the back of the vacuum cleaner.

Then measure the length of the wire from the location of the old strain relief and put it in the same location on the new cord and put the cord through the hole in the vacuum body and squeeze to pinch the wire and install into the back of the vacuum body.

Please let me know if that was your issue and if not please reply and we can continue with a little more information.
