Question and Answers

Q:

Where is the reservoir on a GE model TPX21PRXDWW frig?

A:

The reservoir is located behind the crispers. They will need to be pulled out to gain access to the reservoir. I'm sending you the only pictures available. The reservoir # 810 will be toward the bottom of the refrigerator on the back wall behind the lower crispers in the picture.

If the freezer temperature is getting too cold below zero degrees it can cause this problem. The best way to check the temperature is to place a thermometer between some packages (meat packages work the best). I hope this will help you. If you need more assistance you can resubmit your question with more details.

Q:

Can I thaw out the reservoir for the water dispenser myself?

A:

To thaw out the reservoir you will need to either turn the refrigerator off for awhile or you can use a hair dryer to heat it up. If you use the dryer be careful not to get the reservoir and water lines too hot and melt them. There is also a new meat pan damper for some models. It depends on the serial number to determine which models need this new part. I'm sending you a picture and instructions of this part. If you need help determining if your model falls in range for this part, you can resubmit your question with a full serial number.

Q:

How to fix the dispenser?

A:

The reservoir is probably freezing in the bottom of the refrigerator section. This will cause the water dispenser to stop working till it thaws back out. There are some updated parts, an air diffuser, a meat keeper damper and some armaflex that will help keep the reservoir from freezing. Some of these parts can be tricky to install even for a technician. I recommend having a technician check and repair this. If you need more assistance you can resubmit your question with more details.
