Q:

How do I fix clogged pilot light on Kenmore Ultra Bake Oven? Works off and on (seems clogged if that's possible). Who would I contact to fix if I can't?

A:

Managemylife.com is a great place to find the answers to just about anything, especially on appliances. I would suggest that you provide a little more information such as the make and complete model number of your product so your expert will be able to provide you the best possible answer. Just click on reply below where you can provide the additional information.

Many of the Kenmore Ultra Bake ovens have a spark ignition system. Since you did not post your model number, I am not able to see the exact type of system that your oven uses.

If you hear a ticking sound of a spark igniter when you start the oven, then your range probably uses a spark ignition system. Here is a link for a previous answer that describes the troubleshooting for that type of ignition system: Where can I find specific procedures for checking the control board functions on my Whirlpool gas range model TGS325MQ4?

Some of the Kenmore Ultra Bake ovens will use a glow bar ignition system as described in this video: Gas Ignition Operation.  If you have this type of ignition system, then an intermittent ignition problem is usually caused by a weak igniter.

If you can determine the cause of your problem using this information, then you can order parts from this page: Kenmore Range Parts. Unplug the range and shut off the gas supply before accessing internal components and replacing parts.

If you need to have a service technician examine and repair the oven, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services Range Repair .

If you need more help, reply with additional details and the full model number of your Kenmore range or oven.

Q:

Where can I find specific procedures for checking the control board functions on my Whirlpool gas range model TGS325MQ4?

A:

The direct spark ignition system is more complicated to diagnose and repair than other ignition systems. The first image below shows the wiring diagram for your model of range. It also shows the strip circuit for the bake function. I also provided a resistance check for the safety gas valve. Be sure to check this valve (with the range unplugged). I also provided extensive technical testing information for the direct spark ignition system for your range. This technical information is intended for technicians. You should only use this information if you are completely confident in your ability to safely access and test components. Follow electrical safety guidelines. Unplug the range before accessing internal components. Always make component checks that involve checking resistance with the range unplugged before conducting live voltage checks. Live voltage checks are dangerous. The technical information provided below indicates voltages that should be provided from the control board to the direct spark ignition control board. Instead of checking the AC voltage from the control board, I recommend checking the DC voltage coming out of the direct spark ignition control board. If you are getting proper DC voltage from this board, then the main control board in the oven is okay.

You may be able to diagnose and repair your oven using the technical information provided below. If you need more help, resubmit your question with additional details.

Hello Serena. If your range does not have a pilot light, then there is a good chance that is has an ignition system like the one shown in this brief video: Gas Ignition Operation . If that is the type of ignition system that you have, then you can probably use some tips that are provided in this previous answer to diagnose and repair that oven: Kenmore Model # 91130169895, Serial # 3V665725Q range quit working . Note: Most ranges have an oven service shut-off valve tab on the regulator like the one shown in the image below. If the igniter glows but the burner won't light, you may check that issue before replacing parts. That tab will shut off the gas supply to the oven and allow the surface burners to still get gas.

Some ranges use a spark igniter on the oven burner. If you have that type of system, then you may be able to use the troubleshooting information in this link for a previous answer: Where can I find specific procedures for checking the control board functions on my Whirlpool gas range model TGS325MQ4? .

You can order parts from this page: Range Parts . Be sure that you unplug the range and shut off the gas supply before accessing internal components and replacing parts.

If you need more help, reply with additional details and the full model number of your range.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services .
