I did not find a hard copy or an electronic copy of an operating manual available for that Tappan wall oven. That manual is not available as a replacement part the Sears PartsDirect system. I did not find it available at other parts supply sources either. It does not look like that document is available.

Is there any where I can get an operating manual and installation manual? when I purchased the property new cabinets were installed. I noticed the Tappan oven has a label on the inside noting a vent "may?" be required. The cabinet space above the poven does not show a vent pasing thru to the roof. Is a vent to the exterior required for this type of Tappan oven? What happens when this vent is not in place?

I understand your concern regarding the venting for that Tappan oven. Some double gas ovens do require outside venting. I checked for installation instructions or guidelines for that older Tappan oven but I did not find that information available. You indicated that you just purchased the property. An inspector is normally required to examine the appliances installed before the property can be sold. You may want to check with the inspector regarding the installation of that oven to make sure that it is safe and meets the local and national codes. If you are not able to determine that the installation is safe, I recommend that you consider replacing that oven. That model appears to be around 15 years old.

Thanks for your response. Would you know if a similar gas, stainless steel is available without the vent?

I have recently looked at similar issues regarding the venting of double ovens. I have also recently researched current models of gas ovens. Frigidaire has a 24" gas oven that has 2 oven cavities (the lower cavity is for broiling). That model is shown in the first image below. You can view more information about that model on the Frigidaire.com website. I provided the installation guide for that model in the 3rd link below. That installation guide has cabinet cut-out dimensions and other information. The manual does cover several different models including some that need to be vented to the outside. According to the technical information on that oven, it should not need external venting since it does not have a bake burner in that lower oven. I see no indications that it will need to be vented to the outside unless local building codes require it. I also provided information for a similar Kenmore oven in the first link below. That Kenmore oven does not have a full oven cavity below the top oven. That is what most of the current gas wall ovens that are larger than a single oven look like. The second link shows the installation instructions for that oven. You may be able to use one of those models or a similar model to replace your current Tappan oven. You can view more oven models on the Sears.com website. If you need more assistance, let us know.
