Question and Answers

Q:

How to tell what is the correct tempeture TFX28PBDABB Ge Refrigerator d series

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com. I understand how important it is to be able to set the correct temperature for your refrigerator. The freezer section should be no higher than 6 degrees and the refrigerator 37. Place a thermometer between items in the unit to get a correct temperature reading inside. Air check will not be the accurate temperature. If you do not have a digital display, control knobs are usually set at 4.
If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and I will be glad to assist you further. Thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com.

Hello Michael. Thanks for adding that model number. I am sorry to hear about that dispenser problem in your GE Profile Refrigerator Model TFX28PBDABB.

The most likely cause of that failure is a bad inlet water valve assembly. There are several valve assemblies listed in the parts diagram for that refrigerator.  According to the technical information that I have, you will probably need the inlet water valve assembly that is part number WR57X10022.

Be sure that you unplug the refrigerator and shut off the water supply before accessing internal components and replacing parts.

If you need more help, reply with additional details.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician examine and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services Refrigerator Repair.

Rather than replacing the entire assembly (as you suggested), I decided to instead replace the first valve in the line (Part #: WR57X10023). Your suggestion would have worked, but I was willing to take a chance on just replacing one of the two valves and save $70. Looks like the problem is solved. Thanks!
