Q:

Tappan TEF351EWD electric range/oven. Oven elements not heating up

A:

Thank you for your question.  I am sorry for the problem with your Tappan TEF351EWD Electric Free Standing Range.  Turning the power off for a minute then turning it back on should erase the error code unless the error happens again.  The elements can be ohmed out with a meter to check resistance.  If the top elements work then the power supply is likely okay.   If both the broil and bake elements do not work then I would suspect the Main Control is at fault.  It is rare that both elements break at the same time.  The elements are held in place by two screws.  The elements can be pulled out to check resistance.  Remember to turn the power off first.   I hope this is helpful.  You can also have the problem repaired in your home by a Sears technician.  Here is the link:  Sears Home Services Oven Repair.  Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Thanks very much Fred. Actually, the oven is NOT showing me any fault/error code. I wanted to know if there was a way to "query" the main control for one. I will check the resistance with a meter on the broil and bake elements to make sure they're ok.

The codes should appear but there is no manual way of bringing them up. The diagram below may be helpful to you. If both the bake and broil do not work then I suspect the oven control is the problem.
