Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Thank you for adding the image.  It is not abnormal for the two ends of the door gasket to not meet in the middle. This is normal. There is a baffle seal located between the inner and outer door that will mate to the front of the tub that will prevent any water from leaking. The door seal is not designed to meet in the middle to allow for venting.

If it continues to leak after replacing the door seal, check and make sure the baffle seal is matting up against the lower front edge of the tub.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Thanks so much, Joey S. This is indeed helpful. Can you give me some idea of what the baffle seal looks like?

Q:

Why is my Tappan dishwasher not running?

A:

On something like this you want to disassemble the upper section of the wash motor to access the upper impeller. If the motor turns then I suspect a bad motor if the motor stalls out I suspect something is stuck down in the impeller area. You can access the impeller area from the top below the spray arm after removing the spray arm & filter assembly. If the motor is seized up & nothing is blocking the impeller it will need replaced.
