Q:

Do I need new power board for panasonic TC-P42S1? TC-P42S1 Panasonic Plasma television

A:

I know that it can be very frustrating to have issues with your TV. On this model there are four possible boards that could be causing this to happen. When the light is blinking six times, this is a driver SOS. The board that will need to be tested are SU-board, SD-board, SC board, and the SS board. If you don't feel comfortable doing this yourself, please click on this link to schedule service: Sears Home Services. Click on "Get Started" and follow the directions, click on the red "NEXT" button to continue. I hope this helps. Please feel free to let me know if you need further assistance. We are always here to help. Thank you for using Manage My Life.com.

Q:

How do I clean the screen on my Panasonic plasma TV?

A:

The owner's manual for your TV usually includes a section near the end that talks about cleaning your set. Since I do not have your exact model, I will use a popular model TC-P42S1 Sears sells since the information provided will work for any plasma TV.

First, unplug the Power cord plug from the wall outlet. The front of the display panel has been specially treated. Wipe the panel surface gently using only a cleaning cloth or a soft, lintfree cloth.

  • If the surface is particularly dirty, soak a soft, lint-free cloth in diluted mild liquid dish soap (1 part mild liquid dish soap diluted by 100 times the amount of water) and then wring the cloth to remove excess liquid. Use this cloth to wipe the surface of the display panel, then wipe it evenly with a dry cloth of the same type until the surface is dry.
  • Do not scratch or hit the surface of the panel with fingernails or other hard objects. Furthermore, avoid contact with volatile substances such as insect sprays, solvents, and thinner; otherwise, the quality of the surface may be adversely affected.

Unplugging the power cord helps to make sure the panel is not energized and on. The screen becomes hot so wait for it to cool down before cleaning it. The towel should not be wood based material like paper towels or toilet paper since it could scratch the surface. They say to damp the cloth because using too much water can cause it to seep down into the cabinet and even into the screen itself through the edges. The soap cannot be alcohol based or ammonia based because it will damage the plastic screen.
