Thank you for submitting your question. I understand your concern and I will be happy to assist you. If the washer will spin out a small load fine but large loads are wet, then the problem may be with the clutch (285785) for your washer. The clutch is made to slip at the beginning of the spin cycle. This allows the basket to slowly come up to speed. When the clutch wears out the basket will not come up to speed with a large load. To diagnose this failure, you would need to pull off the washer cabinet and pull the transmission down. You'll likely find the clutch band glazed over. The would indicate that the clutch is not exerting enough torque to release the brake and allow the washer to spin at the proper speed. The images below will assist you in this repair. If the clutch is good, the other parts that would cause this issue are the transmission (3360629), basket drive (64208), and/or drive block (389140). You can order parts from our Sears Parts Direct web site. I hope this helps. Please reply back to this thread if you require further assistance. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Q:

Where can I find the model number on my Whirlpool Estate washer?

A:

The model number should be in the same location as the serial number that you provided. If you obtained the serial number off of a plate or sticker on the washer, look on this same sticker for the model number. The location of the model number/serial number plate on most Estate washers is shown in the image below. You may look on the inside of the lid if you do not find it in this location.

The format of the Estate washer model numbers is illustrated in these model numbers:

  • ETW4300SQ1
  • TAWX700JQ2
