I think Alina has a great response to your question. I would be careful with the amount of force you put on the camera trying to fix it. In my opinion the cost of repairing a camera compared to buying a new one with similar features is not worth it.

Same thing for us. Canon SX20iS poweshot. When we turn on lens will go out then back on. Display says needs to be re-started. Still not working. That other link above charges and don't want to pay if they will just tell us we need to take it.
