Q:

Washing machine shorting out GFI

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

It's not likely a mis-wired washer. The washer should not be connected to a GFI circuit because a perfectly working washer can cause the GFI to trip. Since it ran two loads before it tripped, it's not likely mis-wired. I suggest plugging the washer into standard grounded outlet and then see if it trips the house circuit breaker. If you had the washer mis-wired, it would trip the GFI breaker or a normal breaker instantly.

We do not have the wiring diagram showing wire colors. I added the only two wire diagrams available in the images below.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Some of these questions that are asked will need specific research and will be answered by an expert with-in two business days but usually sooner.

Thank you for submitting your question. The part that our Sears Parts Direct team is more than likely sending you is the seal to the drum shaft that is the cover to the drum bearings. Your bearings for the drum are pressed into the drum at the factory during manufacturing. They cannot be removed or serviced separately from the drum. So, you're correct, you'll need to order the complete drum assembly, part number 245703. The instructions for replacing the drum are provided below. This can be a difficult and laborious repair, if you do not feel comfortable performing this repair yourself, I recommend scheduling for service. You can schedule for service online with our Sears Home Services team. I hope this information helps. Thank you for using Manage My Life.
