I purchased an ssh2442 42' SUPERSCOPE plasma tv from Sears several years ago. Lately the video is distorted and jittery. what can be the cause?

The problem is possible the Y sustain board. The Y sustain board sustains the picture after it is generated. This type of repair would cost about $470-550 or more depending on any additional adjustments that were needed.

I have a Superscan TV and there is a black line in the middle of the screen about 1-2 inches.

A:

Two possible problems could cause this.

  • There is a control board that sends the picture information to the screen. This would be step one.
  • If the control board does not fix the problem, the plasma panel itself would have to be replaced.

The control board is available to be ordered, but I do recommend that a TV technician replace this part. There are a few layers of board that sit on top of this part and can be difficult to replace. The part number for the board is TS05678. And would cost around $350 just for the part.
