Schwinn SR23 tension increases and decreases on its own with or without pedaling SR23 Schwinn Recumbent

Thank you for choosing sears I would be happy to help you with your recumbent bike. Upon researching modelSR23; based on the description provided, it sounds like you may have to replace the console assembly. The console assembly is what controls the tension and all the programs on this model, so when the console fails it can randomly increase and decrease the tension and resistance. I have posted a link below of the console assembly.

That motor is probably a 9 volt motor. You should measure between 6 and 12 volts DC.
