Thank you for your question on the dishwasher.

Does you control count down to 1 and then just sit there and does not finish?

If it does it could be a heater problem.

There is one red wire on the control that sends 120 volts down to the heater and if you put in the quick wash cycle it will get to the point where it turns on the heater.

If you do not have 120 volt going to heater then the control is bad.

If you do have 120 volts to the heater then the heater is bad.

If you discover it is the flow through heater problem then you will need to change out heater with the part number of: 264462.

The problem you are going to incur is that you will have to take the dishwasher out of the hole and then remove tank out of the base.

This is not a job for the faint of heart.

But it is not hard it is just time consuming so you do not really what to have to have the Bosch technician do this. It will end up costing more than the dishwasher is worth.

I hope this will help and please let me know how it goes with the problem and we can continue troubleshooting if needed.

Thanks Sam, In response to your question, Does your control count down to 1 and then just sit there and does not finish? My dishwasher does not have a visible timer. It cycles thru wash, rinse/dry, and clean. These cycles are only marked by a red light above each cycle. It seems as if the wash cycle takes 60 min (which seems OK), but the rinse/dry cycle lasting upwards of 120 minutes. Does this change how I should troubleshoot?

Thank you for the update on the dishwasher operation. From what you just described it both of these sound normal. You are right in that the wash cycle takes 60 minutes. The rinse and dry cycle could take that long because this dishwasher has only a flow through heater that works when it is washing and does not have a we would consider a regular drying type heater at the bottom on the tank. It does a condensing type drying which takes much longer. If you do not want it to run that long you could open the door after the wash or rinse cycle is done and let them air dry. From the information I know have it sounds like it is operating normally for a Bosch dishwasher. Sam A.

Q:

What parts should I need to order to repair my dishwasher?

A:

Without running some diagnostic test and checking the voltage to the wax motor I will not be able to say with any certainty what part has failed.

There could be one out of several possible failures:

  • control board
  • dispenser wax motor
  • mechanical failure
  • loose wire connection

I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your dishwasher.
