model SGS305FS/02 SGS305FS-02 Thermador Cooktop

Thank You for choosing Sears and being a valued member. It is unfortunate to hear that you are having issues with your range and I do understand your frustration. Glad to help out. I'm looking at your model number sgs305fs-02 and what you’re describing is a faulty surface unit switch. The surface unit switch has several electrical contacts that open & close as you turn the switch on & off. The contacts that make & break for the surface unit on light are stuck together inside the switch. I recommend replacing the faulty surface unit switch. There are 5 switches and most likely only one is bad.  The element "ON" indicator is controlled by the burner switches. One of the burner switches has a stuck contact causing the "ON" indicator light to stay on even-though all the burners are turned off. You will need to determine which of the burner's switches has failed. Here is a link that may help you with testing. If you have further questions please resubmit your question for further information. I hope this information helps you.
Thank you for choosing Sears
