Thank you for being part of the Sears’ team and helping our valued member. I am so sorry the member is still having issues with the Maytag laundry center model SG1000 after installing a new touch pad. I will be happy to help you with this.

I have included images at the bottom of this post with the service manual information on how to access the control center and how to test it to make sure there is a good signal.

Please remind the member of the following:

Q:

SG1000 Lid problem SG1000 Maytag Laundry center

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com. I understand how frustrating it can be when the washer give you an error code. I was unable to find an L error code for any washing machine. I even tried it as a 1, but the error codes should be 2 digits or one letter and one number. Please double check the error code you are getting. I have included instructions on the image below on how to access your lid lock assembly. If you are viewing this response on Sears PartsDirect and are unable to view the image, copy and paste the following web address to a seperate internet browser:

SAFETY NOTICE: Be sure to disconnect power to the appliance before performing any repairs. If you are not comfortable with doing any voltage checks that might be recommended, please contact your local service provider for repairs. If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services

Thank you for your question. From what you described on something like this it sounds like the touchpad or touchpad harness is causing problems. First disconnect power to the appliance. I am sending you step by step instructions from the service manual covering access to the control area. I recommend unplugging the touchpad flat ribbon connector & using a number 2 pencil eraser to clean the electrical contacts. Sometimes conformal coating will prevent a good connection. If cleaning the connector & checking for loose connectors do not help I recommend calling in for service to determine the root cause of the problem.

Another possibility is an overload on the same circuit as the washer/dryer.

After making these initial checks please report back to us for further assistance if still needed.

Please click on the images below for more instructions.
