I had found a copy of the direct spark ignition manual on the internet. I had been going through the testing shown on the flow chart. The place I had problems was when I was testing for 120VAC from J1-4 to J1-6. I did not get 120VAC. I seem to get continuity through the gas valve for both bake and broil. I had been following the flow chart on page 29 of the manual I found on the following website. http://www.applianceaid.com/pdf/DSI_manual.pdf

I looked at that flow chart. It shows that you should get 120 VAC on J1-4 to J1-7. That is the circuit that sends voltage from the ERC (Electronic Range Control board) to the DSI board (Direct Spark Ignition board). You should not measure voltage on J1-4 to J1-6 at the same time because that is the circuit that provides voltage for the bake circuit. If you get the voltage on J1-4 to J1-7 and not on J1-4 to J1-6 then that test passed. Since the broil burner is sparking, that DSI control board is apparently sending some DC voltage to the spark igniter for the broil burner. The next step in that troubleshooting is to check the DC voltage to the broil spark igniter. I recommend that you carefully check that issue.

Note: Use extreme caution when checking live voltage. Wear electrical safety gloves and safety goggles when conducting those live voltage checks. Unplug the range as soon as live testing is completed .

I hope that this additional information helps. That manual that you posted should help you diagnose and repair this failure. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details based on those tests.

You can order parts from this page: Whirlpool Range Model SF362LXSQ0 Parts .

This ignition system can be difficult to diagnose and repair even if you have the service manual. If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician examine and fix this problem, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services .

Hello!

I understand that the different part numbers are concerning. The reason why the part number is different is because the original part number 8273977 substitutes into part number W10331686. So yes, this is the correct spark module for your stove! I have given a link below so you can learn more about the substitution, on this page you will see both of the part numbers and a "learn why" option. I do hope this helps ease your mind!

Thanks for choosing Sears! Have a great day! -Melody

Thanks for the reply. I was just wondering would the instruction sheet for the 8273977 work for the W10331686 module?

It sure will! They are the same parts, W10331686 has replaced 8273977. So the instruction sheet is still the same. Thanks for choosing Sears! I hope you have a good day, Melody.

Before installing the spark module I found a tech sheet online that I followed and found out my gas valve was bad. I purchase a replacement gas valve, but still have a problem. The main burner in the oven now works, but when I try the broil function the igniter tries to light, but not gas. This then shuts down the main oven burner. I have been told I my knew gas valve may be bad. Any other things I should check?

Check to see if the broil element works properly. If it does, then the gas supply going to the oven burners is apparently okay.

The ignition system for the oven on this range can be difficult to diagnose and repair. Here is a link for a previous answer that describes troubleshooting for that system: Where can I find specific procedures for checking the control board functions on my Whirlpool gas range model TGS325MQ4?

This information may help you determine the cause of your failure. You can order parts from this page: Whirlpool Range Model SF362LXSQ0 Parts . Be sure that you unplug the range and shut off the gas supply before accessing and replacing internal components.

If you need more help, reply with additional details.
