Thank you for you question on the oven not working.

Have you checked the safety valve for continuity or resistance?

There is going to be voltage to one side with the thermostat on, to the safety valve but if it is open the igniter will not light.

Look at the image below for the theory of operation of a glow bar system.

Are you sure that the new igniter is not broken also, because if they get dropped or handled roughly they will crack. Since it is a hot surface connection you can check it with your meter probes right on the igniter coil for resistance as long as it is not connected to power.

You are correct in that if the safety valve is bad the replacement is not longer available.

Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Hi Sam,checked with my meter, resistance on ignitor and found around 9 on the 20K scale on the 20 scale no reading was seen. on the saftey valve had no reading in resistance in either 20k or at 20 between hot and neutral. I don't have a meter with a continuity signal/alarm here would that be better or are those readings enough. thanks

Thank you for your update on the resistance reading on the igniter and safety valve. If you used the lowest ohm scale on your meter for checking resistance then the igniter appears to be good. If you removed the wires from the electrical terminals on the safety valve and checked across both terminals and go not reading at all then the safety valve is bad. If you are in doubt then if you can get access to meter that beeps when you resistance it would be good to make sure you are checking the components correctly. Sam A.

Hi Sam, I mean't 20k and 200 scale. i was using the hihger of the two 20k to get a reading of 9 and no reading on the 200 scale. although it seems from what you say that no reading in either scale across the saftey valve terminals indicates a bad vale . did you know of any other sited that may have these components

Thank you for the update on the range. If you have zero resistance on the safety valve it is open. I thought I found one but they do not have it either. I would suggest that you use the model number and part number 4320442 in Google to see if you can find a parts supply house that stocks this valve. Sam A.
