Question and Answers

Q:

when my dryer runs the coil glows and the flame ignites but only stays lit for a few seconds. how can I fix this? SDG305DAWW Maytag Maytag laundry

A:

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when having trouble with the dryer.

Glad to help out.   Im  looking at your Maytag Dryer model number SDG305DAWW.

First thing for safety and concerns to keep dryer running well is to check the lint screen and vent of air flow going out of the house.   If clogged up it could cause heating problems on any dryer.

To prevent a Blocked Vent Hood, once a year:

1.  Clean any lint blockage from the exhaust vent hood.
2.  Make sure the vent hood flappers move freely.
3.  Check for screen/grate openings that allow bird or rodent nests.
4.  Replace exhaust vent hood if damaged.
5.  Check for good air flow while running the dryer.
Note: Poor airflow or decreased airflow indicates further vent system cleaning is needed.

All items can be checked with a volt meter for continuity.

When a gas dryer isn't heating there are a few things to look at.

In the burner system you have

1.  The ignitor key number 9 on burner page

2.  The pair of coils key number 5 on burner page

Behind the blower there is

3.  The thermistor key number 6 on heating page

4.  The thermal fuse  key number 4 on heating page.

I know that it can be very difficult to have issues with your dryer. From what you are describing, it sounds like the motor is the problem. This will turn the idler pulley, which then turns the belt on the drum. Since you have already replace the idler pulley and the drum slides, I would recommend replacing the motor. This is part number 2200376. I hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please reply to this thread. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Q:

Matag dryer belt replacement

A:

The instructions in the image below will help you with this problem.

Remember to unplug the dryer first.

You will not have to remove the drum to change the belt. You will have to remove the front bulkhead.

I hope this information is helpful to you but submit another question with any additional details for further assistance.

i did get the bulkhead open and found the belt is not broken, so maybe its the idler or rollers, which would be most likely? i guess as long as i have it open i should replace all right? when i clicked on the attachment i was redirected to the main list of questions, was unable to view the attachment.

I replaced the drum support rollers and when I went to put the belt back on there was too much slack. Not sure I have it routed correctly. All of the diagrams are too small so when zoomed they are out of focus. Does anyone have a larger diagram that really shows the routing? My matag model is LDE9806ACE.
