Question and Answers

Q:

theres a gap on my inner tub which allows cloths to fall threw SAV4655EWW Maytag Maytag laundry

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com.  I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when there is a gap in your washer. I did look into the model number you have provided, and I have found information to assist you.

It sounds to me like it could be your outer tub with gasket could be bad. The gasket may have a tear in it allowing the clothes to fall through. I did look to see if the part is available, and I do apologize it is not. After 5-10 years the manufacture stops selling parts for certain units.

I recommend a service technican further diagnosing your unit to make sure that is the issue.

You can also visit searpartsdirect.com for parts, diagrams, and repair information.

I have searched here on Manage My Life for an answer to your question and noticed that someone else had asked a similar question with a posted response from an expert. I have attached the link below for you to view and get an idea of what may be going on with your laundry center. Hope this helps, good luck!

From the description you give I suspect the timer is at fault.

If the motor will run in the wash cycle and will spin, after the timer is reset, then the motor is most likely okay.

The timer 27001113 can be replaced as a do-it-yourself project by removing the back panel to the console. Remember to unplug the washer first.

Q:

What would cause my Maytag washer to sometimes spin with water in the tub?

A:

It is not a timer failure; your washer was designed to drain water as it slowly spins up to speed. The drain pump is driven directly by the motor shaft. The basket should spin slowly as it pumps the water out and the basket will gradually increase in speed as the water is pumped out.

If the belt tension is too tight it can start spinning to quickly at the beginning of the drain and spin cycles and cause the water in the basket to centrifuge up the sides of the basket which will cause the drain pump to suck air instead of water. Remove the lower access panel (key#16) and check the belt tension. You may want to loosen the spring tension one notch and retest the spin and drain cycles.

I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your washer.
