Q:

I installed a new drive belt on my maytag sav2655aww. But the agitator is not moving. Is there a way to tighten the the pulley or belt?

A:

Thank you for your question. I am sorry you are having problems with the washer. Sometimes when replacing the belt, the pump is not put back on correctly and cause the rotor to bind in the housing.  If this is the case, try pushing further on, then back off for better fit. I would also check the idler pulley.  If it is bent or damaged, it should be replaced also.  Did you connect and adjust the idler tension spring ?  That may be the issue. See this image.

The clothes getting wrapped around the agitator can be an inconvenience and damage the clothes. I did some research and I was able to find two links that will provide you with some good information. I hope this helps while you wait for your expert response.
