Question and Answers

Q:

washer won't start. Ge Washer

A:

There is a possibility that the lid switch is preventing the washer from starting. If you are confident in your technical abilities, you can unplug the washer and access the lid switch. Check for damage to the lid switch and replace that component if it is broken.

To access the lid switch (with the washer unplugged), push a putty knife in between the top panel and the front panel of the washer a couple of inches in from each side to release spring clips that secure the top panel to the front panel. Lift the top panel and pull the front panel off of the washer. You can then examine the lid switch and replace it if damaged.
