Question and Answers

Have a Whirlpool model RS696PXGQ4 Range. I need to replace the lock mechanism and can't remove the top. How do I get it off?

You need to remove the control panel from the range to access the front screws for the top.

There is a piece of trim on each side that goes from the control panel to the bottom of the range outside the door. Remove the screw at the lower area of the trim pieces and pull the bottom of the trim pieces out. Pull the trim down to remove them.

This will let you remove a screw on each side and remove the control panel.
