Q:

how much oil does the reservoir hold? RM1015P Remington Electric pole saw

A:

Thank you for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com with your question about the oil reservoir on your Remington Electric Pole Saw. I will be happy to help you with this.

When you first fill the reservoir, it will need about 3 ounces of SAE #30 motor oil. DO NOT use "bar and chain" oil because it is too thick. When using the pole saw, check the reservoir often and make sure you keep the tank at least half full.

The manual states that is it normal for oil to seep when the saw is not in use. The manufacturer recommends emptying the oil tank after each use to prevent seepage.

I hope this answers your question. If you need further assistance, please resubmit your question with additional details. Thank you for choosing Sears, we appreciate your business.

Thanks so much...that is exactly what I needed to know. I didn't think it held much. I read some owner reviews that said to use bar and chain oil and the manual is specific about NOT using bar and chain oil and so many who have complained about the oil not feeding the chain said they are using bar and chain. Too bad it seeps oil when not in use...boo on that so thanks for the hint of emptying it as we will not use it that often. Any hints about how to get the oil out to empty it...just turn it upside down and let it run out?

Thank you for your quick response and question about draining the oil. The normal way to drain the oil is to turn the pole saw over and let the oil drain into a container. Another option is a siphon kit. I have included the link for you to order a siphon pump kit. I recommend getting two of them, one for oil and one for fuel.

Be sure when you are storing the pole saw you clean the bar and chain as recommended in the manual. Storing the cleaned chain in oil will prevent rusting.

I hope this helps. If I can be of further assistance, please let me know. Thank you again for choosing Sears!
