Question and Answers

Q:

Why won't the replacement regulator fit on my Kenmore range model 79071053400?

A:

I recommend calling a service technician to install this part. If this gas regulator is not installed properly, it can be extremely dangerous. The fittings must be properly torqued and leak checked.

I verified that the substituted part is the correct number. See if the regulator has a part number stamped directly on it to verify that you physically have the correct part. Here is a link from Appliance Parts Specialists that has an image of the regulator 5304416583: Part 5304416583 Image . If your part matches this image, then it should be the one that you need.

You did not indicate why you are replacing the regulator. This regulator controls both the cook top burners and the oven burner. An indication that this part has failed would be an inadequate gas pressure supplied to both areas. If you are certain that the regulator needs to be replaced, I recommend calling a service technician to replace the part. If you need more help, resubmit your question with additional details.

Hello All: Especially Lyle; you have been of great help! I found that after checking out all responses and doing further research that the supplier that recommended that the substitute GE Hotpoint model RGB533CEHACC regulator & control safety valve assembly had the cross reference incorrectly posted. As a matter of fact, they are not the only supplier. My oven has two individual single feed components that handle the top burners and oven compartments separately. The one for the oven should be WB19K10044, not WB19K10014. After sharing the discrepency, the supplier will be taking back the incorrect part and furnish me with the correct one. In an additional positive light, the correct assembly was also $20+ bucks cheaper where I will be receiving a credit after I send back the incorrect assembly. How awesome is that?!!!!! You guys are awesome and I commend the advancement of modern technology to chat with you guys to help me resolve my issue! You are all awesome!!!!!!! ; ) Also, thank you "Manage My Life"!

I looked up parts information for that range model RGB533CEHACC. It appears that you need part WB19K10044 instead of WB19K10014 for that range. Those two parts are different. If you order the part WB19K10044, it will probably fit properly. Here is a direct link for part WB19K10044: Safety Valve WB19K10044 for GE Range RGB533CEHACC . If you receive that part and still have problems installing it, reply with additional details and we will try to assist you further. NOTE: Be sure that you unplug the range and shut off the gas supply before accessing and replacing that component. The gas line connection needs to be properly sealed and leak checked.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services .
