I am sorry and do understand your frustration when there is no heat in the dryer.
 
Glad to help out.  I’m looking at your Roper Dryer model number, RES7646KQ2 .

When it comes to Electric dryers here are all the options to check on when not heating.

All can be checked with an Ohm meter for its continuity open or closed.

You can see all these on the link below when clicked on.

Heating element which is key number 17

Thermal cut off switch which is both key 9 and key 15 together

ON the back of the blower is thermal fuse key number 7

Also on the back of the blower internal thermostat key number 8

Make sure you always keep your lint screen areas clean.

Heating problems for the model RES7646KQ2.   Just go to www.searspartsdirect.com.  Click on bulkhead.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the dryer. If you heard a pop sound, I suspect the belt came off the motor pulley. I recommend checking the belt at the motor. First, unplug the dryer from the outlet. Then click here to watch a video on how to replace the belt. Once you have access to the belt look it over. If the belt is still in good shape, go ahead and reinstall it. If the belt is cracked you can order a replacement from our parts website: Sears Parts Direct .

Replacing the door switch is a great do-it-yourself project which will save you over a $100 dollars.

This is something I can help you with. The images below should be worth a 1000 words to you. Remember to unplug the dryer first.

There are two screws located under the lint filter that will have to be removed.
