Q:

deck deflector replacement 917.273373

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

I was able to find an image showing the torsion spring orientation within the bracket and deflector. You have to hold the deflector and spring in position then slide the hinge pin in. First, you have to remove the push nut on the end of the hinge pin. Usually you have to use a pair of diagonal cutters to cut the nut off. After you have the nut off note the position of the spring. In order to install the spring and hinge rod you will need to remove the hinge bracket from the mower deck. Removing the bracket will help remove tension from the spring so that you can position the spring on the deflector and then slide the hinge rod through the spring.

Reinstalled "old" housing, now question is how does screen(697384) attach to fan-flywheel(796201)? As I said originally, old fan had screw holes, but there none on the new fan, although the screen(697384) is designed for them.

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

If there are no holes in the flywheel for you to mount the screen then you will need to drill out the spots and then thread them to accept the bolt size you are using. When using a tap to thread a hole, make sure to size the tap according to the thread size on the bolt rather than the hex head size.

I hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.

Is there anything other than a safety risk from not installing the screen? Fan blades are quite thin, worried about weakening them. thanks
