It looks like your DVD player was made to play DIVX files.  This is not the standard file structure for DVD’s.  That is why you can play CD’s but not DVD’s.

Note:
I found some information about resetting your DVD player, but I cannot confirm if this will help or even make your problem worse. Please understand that this is not recommended as a fix or solution, but merely what others have tried.
