Question and Answers

Q:

Temperature only goes DOWN from 350 pre-heat? RBS275PDQ6 Whirlpool Oven

A:

The key pad will most likely need to be replaced if only the temperture down key pad is working or the the key pad ribbon connector is not making a good connection on the control board. It would be very unusual for the temperature setting to only go down when the up or down temperature pad is pressed. It could have failed control board so I recommend having a service technician diagnose and repair your oven. There is not any test for the keypad. If the oven heats, there is no other fuse causing this issue. There also should be tech sheet behind the control panel that may be helpful.

Q:

Why is my Whirlpool oven not working?

A:

The only way to find out why you oven is not heating is to use a volt/ohm meter & track down the failed component that is causing the problem. From what you described I suspect that the thermal fuse has failed. Please see the images provided for more details.

Q:

How can I get my Whirlpool Accubake oven door to close more securely so that the light will go off?

A:

This oven has a thermal fuse as shown in the wiring diagram below that would prevent both the bake and broil elements from heating. Based on your symptom of the door not closing properly, this is the likely cause of the heating problem. Heat escaping through the oven door likely caused the thermal fuse to blow. If the serial number of your oven is between XJ010 . . . and XJ48 . . . then you may need to order and install a special to prevent this problem from continuing. The kit contains a new blower assembly with brackets, a new thermal fuse, shims and brackets for the door so that it will close properly, a door gasket, oven glass and a retainer. The kit will also include detailed instructions for the proper installation of these parts. The part number for the kit is 814533. The description is for the blower assembly but the entire kit is included with the blower.

You may be able to install this kit yourself and fix the problem that you are having with your oven. Be sure to shut off the breaker to completely disconnect electrical power before accessing internal oven components.

If you are not completely confident in your technical ability to safely install these parts, then I recommend calling a service technician to install the kit or repair the range.

If you are outside the serial number range listed above or this kit has already been installed on your oven, then you may need to replace the door hinges.

If you need more help, resubmit your question with additional information and the full serial number of your range.
