Thank you for your question.

I can understand wanting to know if the control is bad on the range.

Since the control will not light up but you can get it to work for a few seconds I am of the opinion you are correct that the control has failed.

There also is a small transformer inside the control area that is separate from the control board but powers the control board and it may have failed.

  • You will have to REMOVE POWER from the range and remove the cabinet mounting screws that secures the wall oven to the cabinet and then pull the oven out just far enough to get to and remove the top cover in back of the control panel to get at the control and electrical components inside. (You may have to support the oven on the front so it will not fall out of the cabinet).

If you feel comfortable with trying to repair this yourself and you have a volt/ohm meter and some mechanical ability we can walk you through some checks to see if we can narrow the problem down to one component.

The control board part number is:8302319 and the transformer part number is: 9760587 and you can purchase them from: Sears Parts Direct .

If you decide to try to repair this yourself please use the thread link and I will help your further.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Q:

Why is my clock/oven display blank, it beeps when some of the keys are pushed?

A:

The failure is likely a bad electronic oven control board or a shorted membrane switch assembly. The membrane is part of the control panel assembly.

I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your wall oven.
