Question and Answers

Q:

black oily residue in dryer and on clothes PYGT244AWW

A:

The only possible reason I can think of is that the gas burner is not likely burning correctly causing soot based on the black oily residue inside and outside of the house at the exhaust vent. I recommend calling a service technician to inspect the burner to see if it's burning correctly and to see if has the correct orifice.

I am having the same issue, although the black oily residue is not in patches but simply making any white clothes grey. I have cleaned the dryer also but it becomes black again quite quickly. I am going to pull it out and check the lint hose to see if that may be the culprit since I noticed a black oily residue on the outside of the house by the vent. Any ideas?
