Question and Answers

Q:

Why is my model PYE4500AYW dryer completely dead?

A:

From the description of your problem the most likely the thermal fuse is bad. On this dryer if the thermal fuse is open then nothing works.

The thermal fuse is located on the side of the heater box and to check it you will need to raise the top panel.

Raise the top first by using a putty knife and releasing the two clips located about 4 inches in from the corners.

With the top raised the heater assembly will be on the left hand side and should be accessible. There should be two white wires on the thermal fuse.

If you have a volt/ohm meter you can check continuity across the two terminals on the fuse.

I hope this information helps to resolve your problem but submit another question with any additional details for further assistance with this problem.

Thank you for your question.

I should be able to help you. I have added an image below showing how to take the dryer apart. We do not have the exact manual for dryer. I did some checking in the repair manuals we have here and found the instructions for replacing the rear seal on your dryer. The seal can be glued on using part number 22506p. You can order the adhesive from our parts website. Sears.com. The image may not look exactly like yours but should be close enough to aid in the seal replacement.

Please read through the instructions and if you have any other questions, please let me know.

Here is a link to order any parts you need. Sears Parts Direct .

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
